Material code 42701 for mortar that is specified on sheet 1 of 4 on Standard Drawing PSDB-1-93 for keyways between Prestressed Concrete Box Beams, for tie rods recessed and for anchor dowel holes shall be a non-shrink mortar. These are two alternatives for materials that may be used for this application. This list is only for materials meeting 705.22.
Use material code 42702 for high early strength keyway grout. Products are identified on this list with an (*) and should only be used when required by Standard Drawing PSBD-1-93 Alternate 2. (There are no products at this time)
The mortar for keyways shall be prepared, placed and cured in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Care shall be taken to insure that the material is properly restrained from escaping out the bottom of the joint and that the material is properly consolidated.During the actual mixing and placing operation, a minimum of three(3) - 3" X 6" cylinders of the material shall be taken. These cylinders shall be submitted to the Central Office Laboratory for testing. The cylinders should be received in the lab three days after being made. Indicate the anticipated date that the structure will be subjected to either construction or vehicular traffic. The grout must achieve a minimum strength of 5000 PSI before allowing construction or vehicular traffic on the structure.
